Lavigne started modelling in 2010. She was a third runner-up in Miss Earth Singapore 2010 and took part in many events, fashion shows, commercial, and photoshoots. To see her latest work, please visit her website: Lavigne Yunlu.

The photoshoot for the Model's Wardrobe feature took place at Haji Lane in Singapore - a lively, vibrant street with lots of small fashion boutiques and unique atmosphere.

LAVIGNE - Singapore

FASHION STUDIO: What is your usual beauty routine?

LAVIGNE: I normally think about what I will be wearing the next day before I go to bed. Based on the outfit, I choose my hair and makeup.

To keep myself updated about the current trends, I buy fashion magazines every month. VIVI from Japan and Female from Singapore are currently my favourites. Lookbook.un is another place where I always go to get some inspiration.

FASHION STUDIO: Where do you buy your clothes and which shopping spots in Singapore would you recommend?

I get my clothes from almost everywhere possible: shopping malls, flea markets, online shops etc. But the most frequent place I go and shop is Bugis Street and ASOS website. Bugis has a lot of interesting shops selling all kinds of stuff. While ASOS has the simple and chic style that I like. Plus ASOS provides free shipping worldwide.

For people who love fashion and like to wear something different from others, I'd like to recommend the rising fashion spot, Parco at Millennium Walk. It's where the local designers showcase their work. The black leather dress with wolf print that I was wearing for the photoshoot is from one of the designer's shop there. It's called Baby by Eddie Ho.

FASHION STUDIO: How would you describe street fashion in Singapore? What makes it different from other Asian countries?

LAVIGNE: In my opinion Singapore's street fashion is based on simple and practical style. The tropical weather makes it hard for Singaporeans to wear too much of layering or play with different fabric. Shorts with tank top or t-shirt is one of the most common sets on the street. A one-piece dress is also very popular. Because it's just too hot.

Despite the simplicity and practicality, people in Singapore add interesting items into their outfits to make the whole look more fashionable. Designer heels, bags, and interesting accessories. On top of that, there are still many fashion warriors that are willing to fight with the high temperature to showcase their style. Items like leather pants and furs also can be seen once in a while.

What makes Singapore different from other parts of Asia, is in my opinion, the multicultural environment. You can see people from various cultural backgrounds come together and everyone is wearing something different. It's very interesting.
